19 And Ahab told Jezebel all that Elijah had done, and withal how he had slain all the prophets with the sword.

12 And after the earthquake a fire; but the Lord was not in the fire: and after the fire a still small voice.
We can all relate to Elijah. Depression can come upon us all and the devil will use it to keep us down. When we are at our lowest just as Elijah was ,we can have peace in knowing God is with us every step of the way. During those times cry out to the Lord and He will hear you.
Psalms 34:17– The righteous cry, and the LORD heareth, and delivereth them out of all their troubles.
Psalms 126:5 – They that sow in tears shall reap in joy.
14 But not long after there arose against it a tempestuous wind, called Euroclydon.
15 And when the ship was caught, and could not bear up into the wind, we let her drive.
16 And running under a certain island which is called Clauda, we had much work to come by the boat:
17 Which when they had taken up, they used helps, undergirding the ship; and, fearing lest they should fall into the quicksands, strake sail, and so were driven.
18 And we being exceedingly tossed with a tempest, the next day they lightened the ship;
19 And the third day we cast out with our own hands the tackling of the ship.
20 And when neither sun nor stars in many days appeared, and no small tempest lay on us, all hope that we should be saved was then taken away.

4 And when the barbarians saw the venomous beast hang on his hand, they said among themselves, No doubt this man is a murderer, whom, though he hath escaped the sea, yet vengeance suffereth not to live.
5 And he shook off the beast into the fire, and felt no harm.
What we can learn from the shipwreck is just as Paul never lost hope neither should we when the storms of life comes upon our own lives. Trust and hope in God through whatever trials we face.
Matthew 5:13 – Ye are the salt of the earth: but if the salt have lost his savour, wherewith shall it be salted? it is thenceforth good for nothing, but to be cast out, and to be trodden under foot of men.
What does it mean to be the salt of the earth?
Salt is used to flavor foods. Job 6:6 – “Can that which is unsavoury be eaten without salt? or is there any taste in the white of an egg?”
In ancient times there was no refrigeration so they used salt to preserve meats.
Salt was used to treat wounds and to clean them out and heal them.
In the Bible they used salt in ceremonial offerings.Leviticus 2:13 – “And every oblation of thy meat offering shalt thou season with salt; neither shalt thou suffer the salt of the covenant of thy God to be lacking from thy meat offering: with all thine offerings thou shalt offer salt.”Numbers 18:19 – “All the heave offerings of the holy things, which the children of Israel offer unto the LORD, have I given thee, and thy sons and thy daughters with thee, by a statute for ever: it is a covenant of salt for ever before the LORD unto thee and to thy seed with thee.”
Luke 14:34- Salt is good: but if the salt have lost his savour, wherewith shall it be seasoned?
As Christians we can be the salt of the earth in helping others. By our actions and by the way we talk can make such a difference in others lives. We can show people the love that Jesus has for them.
28 And it shall come to pass, if thou shalt hearken diligently unto the voice of the Lordthy God, to observe and to do all his commandments which I command thee this day, that the Lord thy God will set thee on high above all nations of the earth:
2 And all these blessings shall come on thee, and overtake thee, if thou shalt hearken unto the voice of the Lord thy God.

The Lord laid it on my heart as I studied this today that just as this applies to Israel it could apply to our nation as well. The Lord has blessed our nation but if we continue to turn our back on him our nation will go down hill.
48 Therefore shalt thou serve thine enemies which the Lord shall send against thee, in hunger, and in thirst, and in nakedness, and in want of all things: and he shall put a yoke of iron upon thy neck, until he have destroyed thee.

Miriam was the elder sister of Moses and Aaron. She followed Moses and watched from the reeds what was to become of her baby brother. She told the Egyptian princess she would get a wet nurse for the baby and she got Moses own Mother. Miriam was also one of the seven prophetesses from the Bible who also led the other women in song. But she made a mistake when she instigated her Brother Aaron and they both whispered against Moses.

12 And Miriam and Aaron spake against Moses because of the Ethiopian woman whom he had married: for he had married an Ethiopian woman.
2 And they said, Hath the Lord indeed spoken only by Moses? hath he not spoken also by us? And the Lord heard it.

4 And the Lord spake suddenly unto Moses, and unto Aaron, and unto Miriam, Come out ye three unto the tabernacle of the congregation. And they three came out.

Miriam was whispering behind her Brother Moses back to Aaron but God heard what she was saying and planning. We can all take a lesson from Miriam.
11 And God wrought special miracles by the hands of Paul:
12 So that from his body were brought unto the sick handkerchiefs or aprons, and the diseases departed from them, and the evil spirits went out of them.
13 Then certain of the vagabond Jews, exorcists, took upon them to call over them which had evil spirits the name of the LordJesus, saying, We adjure you by Jesus whom Paul preacheth.
14 And there were seven sons of one Sceva, a Jew, and chief of the priests, which did so.
16 And the man in whom the evil spirit was leaped on them, and overcame them, and prevailed against them, so that they fled out of that house naked and wounded.
Here was seven men who were traveling around being exorcists and probably not to help anyone but to only gain profit or admiration from it. They seen Paul casting demons out and thought they could try this as well but it totally backfired on them! The demon knew Jesus and knew Paul but asked who were they and then leaped on them attacking them and ripping their clothes off.

What a wonderful lesson we can learn! No matter what trial we face to continue praying and singing praises to God!

6 And when Herod would have brought him forth, the same night Peter was sleeping between two soldiers, bound with two chains: and the keepers before the door kept the prison.

13 And as Peter knocked at the door of the gate, a damsel came to hearken, named Rhoda.
14 And when she knew Peter’s voice, she opened not the gate for gladness, but ran in, and told how Peter stood before the gate.
15 And they said unto her, Thou art mad. But she constantly affirmed that it was even so. Then said they, It is his angel.
16 But Peter continued knocking: and when they had opened the door, and saw him, they were astonished.
17 But he, beckoning unto them with the hand to hold their peace, declared unto them how the Lord had brought him out of the prison. And he said, Go shew these things unto James, and to the brethren. And he departed, and went into another place.
36 Now there was at Joppa a certain disciple named Tabitha, which by interpretation is called Dorcas: this woman was full of good works and almsdeeds which she did.
37 And it came to pass in those days, that she was sick, and died: whom when they had washed, they laid her in an upper chamber.
38 And forasmuch as Lydda was nigh to Joppa, and the disciples had heard that Peter was there, they sent unto him two men, desiring him that he would not delay to come to them.
40 But Peter put them all forth, and kneeled down, and prayed; and turning him to the body said, Tabitha, arise. And she opened her eyes: and when she saw Peter, she sat up.
41 And he gave her his hand, and lifted her up, and when he had called the saints and widows, presented her alive.
Not only was Tabitha a disciple that believed in the Lord Jesus but also through Peter raising her back to life many in Joppa come to know the Lord!!
