Respect your elders

I was raised to respect my parents and elders. To say “Yes Sir” and “Yes Ma’am”. I carried that with me through out life and when my Parents grew older and were home bound I took care of them. It breaks my heart to see so many young people disobeying their parents, grandparents or the elderly in general. It makes me mad to see on the news where someone has shoved an elderly person down, beaten them up or worse killed them. As I studied 1 Timothy this morning and this verse,

1 Timothy 5:1-2 King James Version

5 Rebuke not an elder, but intreat him as a father; and the younger men as brethren;

2 The elder women as mothers; the younger as sisters, with all purity.

It stood out to me in respecting those that are older.

2 Kings 2:23-24 King James Version

23 And he went up from thence unto Bethel: and as he was going up by the way, there came forth little children out of the city, and mocked him, and said unto him, Go up, thou bald head; go up, thou bald head.

24 And he turned back, and looked on them, and cursed them in the name of the Lord. And there came forth two she bears out of the wood, and tare forty and two children of them.

The Bible tells us how we are to honor our elderly.
